The Case Against Christ: The Salem Witch Trials

Atheist comedian and the mind behind the Atheist Church, Keith Lowell Jensen interviewed me recently and asked about some of the arguments I've been making about Jesus:

Salem Witch Trials Argument, pt. 1

Salem Witch Trials Argument, pt 2.

The example I often use to draw out the theistic double standard is the Hindu Milk Miracle of 1995:

http://commonsenseatheism.com/?p=2998

"We all use [critical] reasoning with regard to every religion and every area of life – except our own dogma. The same Christians who reject the Hindu milk miracle (which was attested by thousands of living witnesses, written about in hundreds of surviving original documents, and captured on video) will happily accept the resurrection of Jesus from the dead (which was attested by a few ancient dead writers, from whom we have no original documents or video evidence)."

Come on, Luke, those are little brown heathens. Christians, the intended audience of the argument, are going to doubt them just for their ethnicity and not even hear the argument. That is why the Salem thing works better. Smile

Don't worry too much about this "battle with Jesus," I suspect He's going to be a no-show.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29
"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise..."

How cool would that be if it turned out he chose statues of Ganesh drinking milk to shame Reformed Calvinists?

I don't think I've ever seen you speak more than a sentence or two while sitting.

Have you heard anything about Richard Carrier and his research into the historicity of Christ? You two should have a drink.
