Evolution, Theology, and Pseudo-Profundity
Here's an interesting lecture given by Daniel Dennett about the way that religious ideas take hold of our minds. As with many things he says, I think he's right on the money with much of this:
What are your thoughts on the atheist clergy. I remember when the first exceprts of those interviews came out last month and I just felt bad for them. To be sure, it is a dilemma of their own making and it does reflect a lack of integrity, but from an emotive, human perspective, I find their plight rather heartbreaking.
Thanks Jeffrey. I wrote up some of my reactions to the atheist clergy study that Dennett ad La Scola published here: http://atheismblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/liars.html
